The Faculty of Letters competes in all branches in the Istanbul University Sports Festival, held for over 40 years with all the other faculties and schools of our university. We participate in team sports such as basketball, football, volleyball, and numerous individual sports such as athletics, martial arts, tennis, water sports, chess, table tennis, archer, and skiing. However, our Faculty shines out especially in indoor sports, namely basketball and volleyball.

Having won nine titles in the last 15 years, our women’s basketball team is the titleholder of the most successful team in tournament history. Additionally, the team is the reigning champion for the last three years. Our men’s basketball team also played in the four successive final rounds in the previous six years, winning the two while coming second in the others. Moreover, having become the third place twice, our team is the most successful team of the last five years. Our women’s volleyball team has become champions three times over the previous six tournaments. In contrast, our men’s volleyball team has had two titles in the last ten years. We proudly display all the cups in our museum.

Our Faculty has also succeeded in many individual sports tournaments, predominantly in table tennis and chess. Moreover, our students represent our Faculty and participate in our university teams to play in various inter-institutional organizations such as Ünilig (University League) and Koç Spor Fest.

As one of the most crowded faculties, we call for applications every semester and put up informational posters all over the faculty building to use our energy efficiently in sports and find new teammates.
